Term Definition Status
Wave height The height of a surface wave, measured as the difference in elevation between the wave crest and an adjacent trough. ACCEPTED
Weather conditions - ACCEPTED
Weight E.G. Weight of a Vessel with various water level. ACCEPTED
Weight lysimeter - ACCEPTED
Well flow rate Flow rate from well while pumping ACCEPTED
Wellhead pressure The pressure exerted by the fluid at the wellhead or casinghead after the well has been shut off for a period of time, typically 24 hours ACCEPTED
Wet-bulb temperature Isobaric wet-bulb temperature: the temperature an air parcel would have if cooled adiabatically to saturation at constant pressure by evaporation of water into it, all latent heat being supplied by the parcel. Or from wikipedia: The wet-bulb temperature (WBT) is the temperature read by a thermometer covered in cloth which has been soaked in water at ambient temperature (a wet-bulb thermometer) and over which air is passed. At 100% relative humidity, the wet-bulb temperature is equal to the air temperature (dry-bulb temperature); at lower humidity the wet-bulb temperature is lower than dry-bulb temperature because of evaporative cooling ACCEPTED
Wind chill The effect of wind on the temperature felt on human skin. ACCEPTED
Wind component, eastward "Eastward" indicates a vector component which is positive when directed eastward (negative westward). Wind is defined as a two-dimensional (horizontal) air velocity vector, with no vertical component. ACCEPTED
Wind component, northward "Northward" indicates a vector component which is positive when directed northward (negative southward). Wind is defined as a two-dimensional (horizontal) air velocity vector, with no vertical component. ACCEPTED
Wind direction The direction of the air (absolute) in the atmosphere (from direction). Wind direction 0…360°, where 0° is north. Please note a different reference direction in the sensor description. Default min/max values according to WMO quality control Guidelines. ACCEPTED
Wind direction standard deviation Standard deviation of wind direction in degree. ACCEPTED
Wind gust direction Direction of gusts of wind ACCEPTED
Wind gust speed Speed of gusts of wind ACCEPTED
Wind Run The length of flow of air past a point over a time interval. Windspeed times the interval of time. ACCEPTED
Wind speed The speed of the air (absolute) in the atmosphere. ACCEPTED
Wind speed, lateral The speed of the air (absolute) in the atmosphere. Lateral component of wind speed. ACCEPTED
Wind stress Drag or trangential force per unit area exerted on a surface by the adjacent layer of moving air ACCEPTED
Zooplankton Zooplanktonic organisms, non-specific ACCEPTED
