Definition | A cosmic-ray neutron detector that monitors the number of epithermal and thermal neutrons in the environment. It also logs air humidity, air pressure, and air temperature. The data can be used to derive integrated water content in a radius of 100-200 m around the sensor and in depths between 0 and 80 cm with hourly to daily time resolution. Example products are soil moisture or snow water equivalent. |
